Semi-Log Graph in Excel

Let's see how to create a semi-log graph in Excel!

If you already have data, skip the first three steps. If not, let's start!

1. First, type X & Y in cell A1 & B1 respectively.

2. Then, type a 0 in cell A2, put the cursor at the bottom right corner of the cell, and drag it down when a plus (+) icon appears to create a series of numbers upto 12 or so.

3. Next, enter the following formula in cell B2, and copy it down.

=POWER(2,A2)

4. After that, insert a scatter plot from the Insert tab as shown below.

5. Then, right-click on the vertical y-axis (high range values) of the chart & select Format Axis.

6. Next, enable the Logarithmic Scale.

7. Now, close the Format Axis pane and, click on the Chart Elements menu (a + icon at the top corner of the chart). Then enable all major & minor Gridlines by checking the checkboxes. You can do that from the Chart Design tab too. After that, change the colors of the gridlines from More Options if necessary.

8. Finally, you will get the semi-log graph as follows.
